|
|
Hi, I've been asked to look into creating interactive music for the Playstation from a coding and composing perspective. I have used DirectMusic for XBox a lot and hope to be able to incorporate MIDI Instruments using custom samples and Midifiles.
I have spent about a week trying to find info, grabbed the Linux Kit, but can't find anything related to loading custom instrument samples and triggering them from a midifile or by command.
If someone can point me in the right direction, before attempting to get the full Sony Development Kit it would be appreciated. also any buzzwords for searching will help.
What do people use to compose, i've seen reference Sony authoring tools? but again can't find squat.
Is there any SDK docs publicly available on making music for the Playstation?
Thanks,
Ian Grant |

| No. On the main PS2Dev site, there are mp3 players, mod players, and a few other sound apps. They just use the streamed stereo audio and do all the mixing and whatnot in software. There's no docs on using the voice capabilities of the SPU2. |
