After looking for a few hours i find that no one has asked this question or atleast i can't find one.

why is there no firmware hacks? or ones in the making?

so far all there is exploits for mistakes in the firmware. if there is one in the works or one that exist, please post the the name of the group and there website link.

if none exist yet, what is the reason? any links are apprecated.

The answer depends on what you mean by "firmware hacks."

As I understand things, the firmware is decrypted inside the Sony Allegrex processor when the system boots. This means that, unless you have Sony's private encryption keys, you cannot create replacement firmware.

The knowledge exists (most of it has already been posted on the PSP Hardware Development forum WARNING: Shocking Photos at link!!!) to re-write the PSP firmware, and many are actively working on doing this. But putting anything other than some version of the official Sony firmware in there is going to make a brick. You could probably take PSPs and load 1.50 into them, but until Sony decides to give us the keys, we cannot roll our own firmware.

Hope this helps.
