To any tech out there who knows there stuff:

Naplink is described to only work with the pl-2301 or pl-2302 cables, Does anyone know if my pl-2501 usb 2.0 cable would work? The diffence is that the old cable worked on a usb 1.1 to usb 1.1 interface. My cable is a host to host bridge adaptor~~~ ANY IDEAS???

Also is there a way to connect the new slimline PS2 via its inbuilt ethernet port to a pc without a mod?? I know there was a linux program floating around but I'm not to skilled when it comes to Linux

for the first i don't know.
for the second you can't do anything, maybe loading a ps2link with all files builtin by armax.
the linux kit for ps2 isn't compatible with pstwo

1. You missed an option on your poll. I like both. Not sure its terribly related to your topic ?

2. Dunno, but not sure the concern here. If you have a PL-2501, try it, it either works or it doesn't. If you don't have one, or do but it doesn't work, well it means you need to get the one that we all know works. Problem solved.

3. Dunno what you mean here. One has always been able to hook an ethernet cable between the ethernet port and a PC. And no one has ever needed a mod to do this. If the connection is direct, you need a cross-over cable. If the connection is via a repeater/hub/switch, a normal ethernet cable works.

i think he need to do something with that not only linking them or playing online. and because he asked about the cable for naplink probably want ps2link via ethernet. and can't be used exploit for what i know sony corrected it

He can however use the ps2linux rte using the reload1 option to boot ps2link from mem card.

I am trying to connect the PS2 to the pc so I can send programs to the memory card. Is there a possible way to do it via ethernet? Also my PL2501 Cable doesn't show up in Naplink because it only looks for the Pl2301 cable. I am trying to connect for same purpose. Would it be possible to modify the Naplink drivers to find the cable?

Unless the PL2501 functions identically to the PL2301 then it'd probably be quite a bit of work to modify naplink to use it even if you had the source code to naplink...

If you can boot homebrew then you can run ps2link. It's basically the same thing as naplink but it runs over the network adapter, and is quite a bit more up to date. (And generally recommended over naplink as well)
