Wondering if possible to convert psOne game to PSP iso?

If I am correct the psp processor is based off the PSOne. So would it be possible to just skip the emulator and "rewrite" the code to play on the PSP. I know it may seem a little far-fetched but it would be sweet to play FF7, Castlevania, RE*, just to name a few anywhere.

Hey, I know nothing about biology but can a dinosaur and a badger have kids? They're both scary creatures but it would be cool to have a BADGERSAUR!!!

...because, if its cool then it must be possible, right?
