One Chinese Said he has succeed to down-update 1.5 version psp to 1.0's

1.You need a wifi card example D－LINK DWL122.

2.set your dwl122's ip, then you must set psp's NETWORK SETTINGS as INFRASTRUCTURE MODE adn SSID is your dwl's ip, and then go to psp's GAME SHARING to connect your psp and pc. or you can use kai to try.

3.and then you must use a soft as superscan to scan the port which psp has.
usually it's in 31XXX~62XXX

4.if you succeed scaned the port. you can login your psp in Internet Explorer for example : http://192.168.1.1:31413

and then you can see the file folder in your ie

and then you can replace the folder but you can't replace "data" files.
i think it possible in using.

there is psp 1.0 version firmware. but it perhaps not full

I know this is for 1.5 to 1.0 but im pretty sure this exploit could work for higher versions as it doesn't use any real firmware capabilities besides the feature to connect using GameShare...I do not have the necessary items to try this so I post it for others.

I have tried this to the best of my ability but this seems to be incomplete and there are many things that don't seem to add up.

For one: There isn't anyway that I see to port scan the PSP because it can't connect to any network because an SSID and an IP address are two different things.

For two: He managed to connect to a non-routable IP address ending in 1.1. This leads me to belive he accidentaly connected to his own router which leads me to point three...

He is using the HTTP protocol. This implies that the PSP has HTTP built into it. Why would Sony build an HTTP server into this thing?

EDIT: I could be very wrong about this. He has very poor english and I don't really understand the directions entirely.

Yea, I am just the messenger I found this and thought people with the actual items needed would be able to try. The pics look real, but thats assuming that WIndows XP in China looks alittle crappy lol.

Ok so I've tried a few more of my networking tricks. This might be old news but it is new information to me. Feel free to ignore this post.

I plugged up one of my prism2 cards and noticed that kismet was firing off about their being an ad-hoc around with the name: PSP_S000000001_L_GameShar

I flipped back to windows and it gave me the option to connect to it with both my prism2 card and my IPW2100 card.

I connected and got the IP address 169.254.44.248

I'm not entirely sure that I know how windows assigns IP addresses for Ad-hoc networks so I tried scanning a few and nothing was happening. Everything was coming back quiet.

I also gave some thought as to why Sony would put an HTTP server on the PSP. This trick has to do with game sharing and what better way to transfer files than http? So they tacked on an HTTP server for file sharing.

I wish I had two PSPs to test this theory and monitor the traffic. If anyone does then please use kismet and see what happens when two PSPs start talking to each other. I would love to see the dump file.

I did exactly what it said and when I did the port scan it showed up as port 21 which is a file transfer protocol so not only could I not access it as an HTTP, I even tried connecting via FTP and timed out, I think he's lying

As Raoul said, this is about a month old and has been found to be fake on several different levels..

The pictures he posted are of Windows Explorer browsing his memory card connected to his PC. He then types in 'http://whateverthehellhewantsto.psp/flash/memorystick/whatever/' and takes a screenshot. An easy way to tell is having the understanding that Windows Explorer / IE cannot show a folder view over HTTP. If he had said FTP at least the pics *could* have been credible.

Also as Raoul said, this HAS been covered previously in other threads, I think two or three times.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for exploits but please search the forums before you post!
