where do you extract the psptoolchain-20050801.tgz im not that good on linux or unix some help i just know a little

Are you on linux trying to do this or from windows via cygwin?

Winzip for windows or stuffit for macosx can decompress .tar.gz (aka .tgz). For linux there is guiTar.

Or you could brave the command line: tar zxvf blah.tgz
