I need to rebuild the on/off/reset buttons on the front of my ps2. on the board there are 6 or 7 points where the switch cable plugged in. does anyone know which of the points on the board were used for the on/ off function? all i need is for the thing to turn on. i dont even need the buttons i could just connect a wire so it is automaticly on when i hit the switch on the back right? is there a board schematic with the on/off function shown? i would really appreciate any help. i have all these new games, but no way to play them.

There are no board schematics that are publicly available but the solution is still simple.

First, find the connector on the board that the ribbon cable leads to. Should be about 6-7 wires like you said. On of those is the on/off. See if you can insert a wire into there. Dunno which one and whether experimenting will kill something. Do at your own risk.

On the other hand, there is a on/off/reset line on the expansion port. I know this because sometimes when I plug in the network adaptor without turning master power off, the unit will turn on automatically, likely from an inadvertent grounding of the proper line. I think I isolated which group of pins is most likely, but maybe someone else can finish experimenting on that before I can get around to it.
