In the latest version of firmware (kernel 3.71/3.72) it seems that Sony has been able to allow battery charging while using WiFi... However this only works in that kernel. I have been wanting this feature for some time and now it's possible.
Has anybody been able to use this under kernel 1.50?

People under kernel 1.50 could charge the battery and use wifi at the same time when key 6 was "broken". Old downgraders used to copy key 5 into key 6 before altering key 5, and something about key 5's content allowed charging and wifi. It caused other problems with the psp turning off when the battery was low, but not TOO low, but people liked the charging + wifi more than they hated the battery problem. I know a couple people who after fixing their keys went back and "broke" key 6 to get the charging + wifi back. Just dump and save the keys with IdStorage Manager, then make a copy of 0x0005.bin and change it's name to 0x0006.bin. Then run IDSM again and do a verify/fix keys. It should tell you that key 6 doesn't match 0x0006.bin and ask if you wish to overwrite key 6 with the file.
It won't brick, but as I said, you do get side effects - some good, some bad. Note that fooling with the idstorage is dangerous and you are on your own if you do so. Be sure to have a backup of your original nand image and a pandora stick/battery on hand in case you stuff up things. |

It is probably better to fool power.prx that to change the idstorage key ;) |
