I've looked around this site quite quickly and noticed that it's mostly about creating all new software for the ps2 but what I'm really looking for is a way to edit ps2 games themselves.

For example, I've had this project in mind for aaaaaaaages. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix was released about a year after Kingdom Hearts and had loads of cool new stuff but it was only released in Japan. Basically what I wanna do is take the code and basically translate the game using the english version as a basis. The new bits would obviously require a bit more work.

Anyway, my basic problem is that I'm not sure what code Kingdom Hearts is actually written in/how I can access it/is it legal?

We don't support game hacking here.
In some countries it's illegal to decompile commercial PS2 games (read the license of the game, on the back of the case and around the outside of the disc)
Even if it wasn't illegal, it'd be incredibly hard to do.
