Which IOP compiler, old or new?

It seems like there is support for two versions of iop compilers in ps2toolchain.

As mentioned in the readme "As there's still a few problems with the patches and irx files.."

Is this still valid? Does people have problem with the 'newer' iop compiler? Or have the bugs been fixed?

I'm asking since there's problems building the old iop toolchain with new gcc's (at least in cygwin)..

The new IOP compiler should work fine.
