After searching the web for the past two days, I've finally given up on finding any sort of instructions and/or files I can seem to understand or make use of. The whole ffmpeg style stuff on the ps2 has gotten me horribly confused.

quick questions:

1) Can an original un-modded PS2 with out any additional hard drives or network adaptors or USB drives run the software needed to play back video (divx or whatever) files?

2) Is there a way to burn the CD's with videos/software/ect on a Mac (osx)?

3a) Is the whole process to just get certain files onto a memory card?
3b) If so, then couldn't I just find someone who already has this done, and transfer those files from their card to mine?

When I first saw somewhere the other day that someone had made a program that would play videos on the PS2 I really never figured it would take quite so much to get it to work. Any help is appreciated, and sorry if I've missed some obvious information or another thread with these answers but I couldn't find anything when I searched.

Thanks
-daniel

There are some homebrew efforts to play Divx. Starting these programs without a modchip is done with the independence exploit - and installing the exploit is quite difficult. Without network and hard disk, you will be swapping discs every time you wish to play a video.

You might be better off investing in Action Replay Max, Qcast or a DVD/Divx player (cheap and doesn't require a swap disc).
