I saw a video on internet about modified psp with external joystick
so i tried this but with a pda touchscreen and it worked.
but not all directions worked so is the psp joystick standard 4 way mouse
or is it another type of mouse.

This does work you just need to solder wires on to joystick connectors.

The PSP has a dhat and an analog stick. Neither are a mouse. The dhat is a simple set of switches for L/R/U/D, and the analog stick returns a value from 0x00 to 0xff for each axis (X and Y), where 0x80 is centered.
