Is it possible to actually program, duplicate and distribute a ps2 title? Has anyone actually been able to make a game single-handedly that is able to be duplicated and distributed in any way? I assume there are a lot of issues... What's involved?

Are their people available to program games for those of us with a lot of interest but no programming experience?

There is plenty of homebrew thats being distributed -- as homebrew. You still need a way to boot homebrew to be able to play it though. If you mean having it officially published so it can be run on any PS2 like a normal PS2 game, then forget about it.

Depends how much you are willing to pay.

I take it that there are only a select number of approved games through large companies. That's fair enough I suppose. That doesn't explain how some of these titles are purposely made for a bargain bin from the first place. Seems like an independent could produce something as compelling as these games pretty easily. I don't mean that the games are easy to make but rather that some of the competition is not that great.

This leads me to wonder then if any of these larger companies have picked up a game written by someone not affiliated with a big name similarly to how bands get signed and their record distributed through a big label. I know I am probably behind in understanding here but I would really like to understand how this works.

This site isn't about educating people on how to publish a commercial game. It's about how to do homebrew programs. We're the (unofficial) development side of things. Someone else does the commercial and publishing side.

You have a question on how to write that program, this is the place. You have a question on how to get a distributor to pick up the title, well, this is probably not the place.

I appreciate the input. Homebrew is cool. Just wanted to know where things go from there. That's all. Thanks.
